Did he give you a reason to look at his texts? He is angry that you invaded his privacy, although you found out that he is talking to another girl. Forget a break, dump him. If he loved you then he would not be telling another woman / person that your relationship is not going anywhere. Did he even divulge this information to you? You cannot force someone to love you. I know it hurts but you need to let him go; you will get over it and meet someone better, I promise.
